Frequently Asked Questions
No. A dependent KITAS does not include work rights. If your spouse wants to work in Indonesia, they need their own work-based KITAS (e.g., Investor KITAS or Remote Worker KITAS).
All dependent KITAS permits are linked to the primary KITAS. If the primary permit is cancelled or not renewed, dependent permits are also cancelled. We can help transition dependents to other visa types if needed.
Yes. Children with a valid dependent KITAS can attend international or local schools in Indonesia. Many schools require the KITAS as part of their enrollment documentation.
Yes, children with a dependent KITAS can attend international or local schools in Indonesia. International schools such as Bali Island School, Canggu Community School, or Jakarta Intercultural School accept students with valid KITAS documentation. Local Indonesian schools (sekolah negeri) may also admit foreign children, though instruction is in Bahasa Indonesia. We can advise on school enrollment requirements for each region.
If the sponsoring KITAS holder and dependent spouse divorce, the dependent KITAS becomes invalid as it is tied to the sponsoring relationship. The former dependent must either leave Indonesia, obtain their own independent visa (such as an Investor KITAS or a cultural/social visa), or — in cases of mixed marriage with an Indonesian citizen — apply for a spouse KITAS under a different sponsorship arrangement. We assist with transitioning to the appropriate visa type.
